Hurricaine Dolly!

Well, we only got a tiny bit of rain from the Hurricaine but we will take what we can get. It has been so hot and dry around here... Ky was intrigued with the rain so she watched it from her chair with "puppy" and a snack as if she were watching Blue's Clues on TV, her new favorite show. We just Thank the Lord that Cody was not on Hurricaine Detail this time, although the news reports that we are in store for a busy season so he may be on his way out if another storm approaches the Southern US coastline.

"Stretch"

I am doing a unit on "Wildlife" with my kiddos in summer school and by a total chance we had the opportunity to pet a Giraffe. It was such an awesome experience, so of course I had to share it. I think I found a new favorite animal! Stretch, was the most gentle creature and he was so soft!

Happy 4th of July!

So after work today, Kylie and I took advantage of our 4th of July and partied! We were able to enjoy a yummy dinner with Chris, Andrea and the Boys before heading off to Dripping Springs for their huge Fireworks Show. Once we got to Dripping Springs, Ky and the boys spent quite a bit of time running circles around the park and us as we waited for the fireworks display, but as the sun went down over the horizon Kylie settled down to watch the show. I would have to say that the fireworks started off great, but due to the limited rainfall we have had lately, the fireworks soon caught the surrounding grass on fire, which of course caused much chaos. So, we loaded up the kids and trudged off to the car. As we waited in line to leave the field (about 20 minutes I guess) the fireworks started up again, so Ky and I quickly parked the car and enjoyed the rest of the show. She absolutely loved it, clapping everytime the crowd did and then hiding her head everytime there was a loud boom, such a cutie! We sure wish Cody could have been there with us, although he was having his own fun out at the lake patrolling on the PWC while a fellow Warden (not naming any names) borrowed his boat and promptly sunk it. Yes, I did say "sunk". What a day! I always thought the guys were supposed to patrol on top of the water not underneath it...
